Weekend Preview: AMC’s ‘Preacher’ Premieres And ‘Banshee’ Meets A Bloody End

Preacher (AMC, Sunday 10:00 p.m.) – It’s finally here. AMC’s latest comic book adaptation Preacher premieres tonight. We’ve seen killer trailers and devilishly good promos. We’ve heard from creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg about all of the tender love and care it took to bring this hellish series to the small screen. And critics have fawned over the first few episodes, but now we finally get to see what all of the fuss is about. Meet Jesse Custer, a man struggling to escape his past until a mysterious entity comes to Earth, inhabits his body and gives him all sorts of incredibly terrible powers

Banshee (Cinemax, Friday 10:00 p.m.) – In the series finale, Lucas decides to leave town, but reconsiders when a supposedly-solved murder case is reopened. Meanwhile, Proctor looks to make a deal with the Colombians after what went down with the Brotherhood, and Carrie enacts one last act of vengeance. A lot of gun fighting, violence and death is on the menu tonight.

Game of Thrones (HBO, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) – After last week’s long-overdue Stark reunion, tonight’s episode features Jon and Sansa making moves in order to take back Winterfell. First up, confronting Littlefinger about what he knew of Ramsay’s intentions. Meanwhile, Arya’s still undergoing her assassin training; Bran’s transported to a dangerous place (whitewalkers are involved); and Brienne embarks on an important mission.

Grimm (NBC, Friday 8:00/10:00 p.m.) – Season five is ending with a two-hour episode and plenty of you-know-what is about to go down.  Outlander (Starz, Saturday 9:00 p.m.) – Claire’s fighting for her life and the life of her unborn child at L’Hopital Des Anges as King Louis deals with two men he suspects have been practicing the dark arts.

Billboard Music Awards (Fox, Sunday 8:00 p.m.) – Ciara and Ludacris are hosting the show honoring chart-topping artists in Vegas this year. Expect to see Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Celine Dion and a Prince tribute by Madonna.

The Girlfriend Experience (Starz, Sunday 8:00 p.m.) – Remember in Bridesmaids when Kristen Wiig went to town on that giant cookie? That’s Christine tonight except, instead of baked goods and chocolate fountains, she’s taking her rage out on people at the firm.

Silicon Valley (HBO, Sunday 10:00 p.m.) — Dinesh, Gilfoyle and Jared lose track of some hardware and Richard’s ego gets in the way during an interview.
