New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to throw a block party for Kanye West.
Following the washout of West’s planned set at Governors Ball 2016 — and a chaotic attempt at a late-night make-up show in Manhattan — de Blasio reached out to ‘Ye and Kim Kardashian on Twitter to talk about a proper do-over.
“Great block parties are planned,” he wrote in reference to the impromptu show announcement from Yeezy on June 5. “[My wife] Chirlane and I can throw one with you to benefit NYC kids.”
De Blasio directed the tweets at both Kanye and Kim’s Twitter handles and attached an image of himself on the phone, along with the question “Does someone have Kanye’s number?” in a Snapchat-aping font. The photo was a take on a Snapchat shot by Kim that showed Kanye attempting to get in touch with the mayor’s office in the midst of the scene outside Webster Hall. ‘Ye was looking for permission to close off the street after thousands of fans showed up for his pop-up performance. He was ultimately unsuccessful and the NYPD stepped in to shut the whole event down.

If Kim is to be believed, West just might be open to the idea of a make-up block party. She tweeted as much following the Webster Hall cancellation.
He really tried so hard but it was ultimately out of his control! He has the best fans in the whole world!
