It’s been awhile, yet not long enough, since the last time I watched a Twilight movie (yeah, yeah, I know, but I believe that you can’t make fun of something until you’ve at least given a shot — I gave New Moon an opportunity to wow me, which I did not, and now I’ll never stop making fun of it), so I don’t remember if Bella and Edward ever discussed music. But if they did, I’m sure it went like, “So, do, you, um, like, um, this, song, and, stuff, what with…its, musical, notes?” Then Jacob and his wolf brothers would barge into the room, with only the worst CGI seven cents can buy, and begin playing a song on their pan flutes, or something.
Yet despite the vapidness of the (fictional, but not really) scene depicted above and nearly all things Twilight, the film series’s soundtracks have been consistently spectacular, featuring the likes of Thom Yorke, the Killers, Bon Iver, Beck, the Black Keys, Lupe Fiasco, and Battles, among others. The soundtrack for Breaking Dawn: Part 2, the fifth and final Twilight film (out on November 16th), continues the trend, with new songs from Green Day, St. Vincent, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, and Feist, some of which you can hear 90 seconds from below.
