ESPN’s latest 30 for 30 “Doc & Darryl” will tell the story of Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry. The two former New York Mets stars rose to fame in the 1980s before entering into a downward spiral — fueled by alcohol and drug addiction — that would last for decades.
Prior to its premiere on Thursday night, Strawberry talked with Evan Cohen on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Radio and was asked about some of the things he did at the height of the reckless lifestyle during his career. The most surprising revelation came when Strawberry was asked if he’s had sex in a ballpark before.
“In the middle of a game. Let’s just leave it at that. Been there, done that.”
…
“Between innings. It worked out well just how crazy it was,” Strawberry added. “It kind of worked out that way. You point (a woman) out and tell the kid (to go get her).”
No wonder baseball games take so long — we’ve got to wait for these guys to get done humping in the clubhouse.
You often hear of athletes abiding by a “24 hour rule” before competition, saying that having sex within a day of a contest can make them weak in the knees and hinder performance. If that’s the case, I can’t imagine how weak in the knees Strawberry felt when he took the field after doing the deed between innings.
Strawberry also hinted that he and Gooden may have had sex with a woman at the same time before, so it’s only not out of the realm of possibility that they’ve shared a woman at the ballpark. This 30 for 30 should be a lot of fun.
