Pusha T Might Not Have Been As Hands On With The ‘I’m Lovin’ It’ Jingle As We Were Led To Believe

Remember when we found out that Pusha T wrote McDonald’s famous “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle? That’s what former record executive Steve Stoute told us. It was a fun story, because the idea that Pusha T was responsible for a poppy earworm jingle for one of the biggest companies on the planet was amusing as he’s one of rap’s most serious rhymers. However, some things are just too beautiful to be true. It turns out, there is more to the story, and Pusha T didn’t actually write the song.

Pitchfork claims that in 2003, McDonald’s reached out to advertising companies across the globe to find a new campaign. It was, in fact, a German company that came up with the original concept, and with the help of a company called Mona Davis Music, came up with the tune behind “I’m Lovin’ It.” Then, as McDonald’s launched the new campaign, they managed to get it into a Justin Timberlake song, which led people to think it was actually Timberlake behind the jingle for a while.

Now, Pusha’s name didn’t show up in this story at random. He did provide vocals for the song on the commercials. However, apparently he didn’t have any more involvement than that. So, alas, it wasn’t Pusha T who brought “I’m Lovin’ It” into the world, it was some dudes in Germany. And now, we feel so betrayed.
