Aziz Ansari is genuinely worried what the United States of America would turn into if Donald Trump was elected president. In an op-ed for the New York Times, the Master of None star wrote, “Today, with the presidential candidate Donald J. Trump and others like him spewing hate speech, prejudice is reaching new levels. It’s visceral, and scary, and it affects how people live, work and pray. It makes me afraid for my family. It also makes no sense.”
You know what also doesn’t make sense? Trump telling the father of fallen Army Captain Humayun Khan, Khizr Khan, that “I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard… I’ve had tremendous success. I think I’ve done a lot.” Khan fired back by pointing out that Trump — who said something jaw-dropping after being given a Purple Heart by a veteran — “dodged the draft” and “you had the time, you did not serve. You should have pinned that back to that veteran’s chest and should have hugged him and thanked him.”
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ansari compared the feud between the Khans and Trump to Drake and Meek Mill. “The Khan family is the Drake to Donald Trump’s Meek Mill,” he said. “I mean, it’s crazy. The guy makes a speech like, ‘Have you read the U.S. Constitution? Let me give you a copy!’ And then Trump’s like, ‘Why doesn’t your wife say anything?’ And then the guy goes, ‘You have a black soul.’ Which is the coldest sh*t I’ve ever heard. I’ve never heard anyone say that. I heard that was gonna be a line in Tupac’s ‘Hit ‘Em Up,’ but he was like ‘Nah, that’s too mean, we can’t go there.’”
All political disputes should be put in rap-conflict terms.
