The first teaser for Dunkirk may be light on Harry Styles, but it does feature some solid (if brief) visual evidence that confirms Christopher Nolan is more than capable of crafting a World War II epic. Not that you were imagining that the Inception auteur would make a mess of things.
The first teaser (or “announcement” as Warner Bros. billed it) has made its official debut after a leak showed its wares early. The film, which is written and directed by Nolan, is set during the Dunkirk evacuation of the Second World War. The teaser comes equipped with a harrowing final visual of a massive collection of soldiers hunkering down after the discovery of an incoming threat. Everything presented in the sneak peek has a gargantuan feel to it and boasts a Nolan-esque approach to typography.
Dunkirk will feature the likes of Tom Hardy, freshly minted Oscar winner Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, and the aforementioned pop cutie pie Harry Styles in the cast. The motion picture is lined up for July 21, 2017 release and will probably make your dad cry a handful of times while watching. That’s something your pops and Directioners will have in common, we reckon.
