In case you didn’t know, some new emojis were rolled out recently. Are you under pressure on which ones to use and which to avoid? Well, allow Vince Staples, fresh off Olympic grading, to be the deciding factor for you in his latest ‘Reviews Every F*cking Thing’ video for GQ. He picks apart each new emoji and lets you know where he stands on them.
Only Vince Staples can bring entertaining backstories to emojis. He cites one that has “anxiety issues because she feels she’s not being appreciated by the rest of the living creatures on this earth and she’s probably in New York City walking down the street. Nobody asked how her day is. She really needs a hand and someone to say interest in her well being, but they’re not doing that. She’s kind of self-reflecting and feeling as if she’s alone in the world.” This might be the most overly complicated, yet genius take on one emoji ever. Vince should just team up with Apple for a bunch of short origin films based of every emoji they’ve created.
In other cases, Staples just provides a quick-fire opinion. He says one of them look like the girl from Inside Out and it makes him sad. Want to know his stance on water guns? “It’s 2016, water guns shouldn’t look like that anymore,” he says regarding the controversial emoji that replaced the gun one.
For the music side of things, Staples’ Prima Donna EP is out on Friday, August 26. In addition, a short film is being released alongside it with screenings slated for NYC and Los Angeles on the 24th and 25th, respectively.
