Chance the Rapper took his talents from Chicago to Los Angeles, where he made his debut appearance on Thursday morning’s episode of Ellen. For his energetic performance, the crew set up the stage to resemble a record-label conference room, and the rappers destroyed it by ripping up contracts, throwing papers and taking the disgruntled executives by complete surprise. And 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne joined the rapper for a rendition of Song of the Summer “No Problem” from his third mixtape, Coloring Book.

Lil Wayne, whose infamous ongoing label problems include a $51 million lawsuit over unpaid royalties and advances on a record deal with Cash Money Records, took the opportunity to add a clever extra lyric to his verse on the track:

“And if that label try to stop me/ I’m gon’ let ’em rob me/ Yeah, right, like Ryan Lochte”

After the rebellious performance, a much calmer Chance sat down with Ellen and discussed why he refuses to sign with a major label, explaining that he wants to be an example to all the young artists and help them avoid the “pitfalls of upper management and the non-music side of music.” He and Ellen also reminisced about meeting at President Obama’s birthday party.
