By now, most fans of The Walking Dead know to expect that the seventh season will take us to The Kingdom, a new colony inhabited by people who ride horses and wear suits of armor, some of whom we got a glimpse of in last year’s final two episodes.
That particular colony is ruled over by a man named King Ezekiel, who has a pet tiger named Shiva. Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and the Kingdom are likely to play a central role in the coming battle between Rick’s group in Alexandria and Negan’s group, the Saviors. Carol and Morgan, last seen headed toward The Kingdom, should also help form Alexandria’s alliance with the new colony. The Hilltop Colony, ruled over by Geoffrey and Jesus, will also play a role, which explains why Tom Payne and Xander Berkeley have been elevated to series regulars on The Walking Dead.
The latest promo for AMC’s zombie drama takes us inside The Kingdom for a closer look at Ezekiel and his men. It also comes with a new promo image featuring the seventh season villain, Negan. It offers no clues, however, as to who will be Negan’s victim (or victims) in the seventh-season premiere.
The Walking Dead returns Oct. 23.
