It’s National Taco Day; Here’s Where To Score Yourself Some Free Tacos

If you’re a regular to Taco Tuesday festivities around your town, then you might already know that this Tuesday is particularly special. October 4 marks National Taco Day — a day to celebrate all the good things tacos bring about in the world (think: voter registration, hometown appreciation, college credit…tacos are doing good things, people).

And, as always, restaurants are joining in on the festivities with their own special offers. Check out the list below — we won’t blame you if you decide to take the day off and do the entire free taco circuit.

Chevy’s Fresh Mex: Customers at the Clifton and Linden, New Jersey locations who finish a 4-pound taco within 30 minutes will be awarded free tacos for one year. Call ahead!

On the Border: Mini Crispy Tacos for 50 cents all day at participating restaurants (no limit per customer)

Rubio’s: Original Fish Taco for $1.75 all day (normally priced at $2.99)

Del Taco, Nationwide: Two free grilled chicken tacos when you join the Join the Del Taco Raving Fan eClub. Three value tacos for $1.29


Qdoba, Nationwide: Free order of chips and salsa or free drink when you sign up for Qdoba Rewards.

On the Border, Nationwide: 50-cent Chicken Tinga and Veggie mini-tacos.

El Pollo Loco, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas: Free taco al carbon when you join My Loco Rewards.

Jimboy’s Tacos, California, Nevada, & Texas: Free beef or bean tacos, limit 3.

Taco Cabana, New Mexico & Texas: Free chicken fajita taco between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant, East Coast: Return of the 2-pound Taco Gigante, available until the end of October.

El Dorado Cantina, Las Vegas: $1 Signature Tacos between 2 and 6 p.m., limit five.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Norman, Okla.: $1 tacos all day.

Toloache, New York: Special menu by chef Julian Adina, including Hamachi “Carnitas” Tacos, Tacos de Panchita, and Tacos de Arrachera.

Omni Barton Creek, Austin, Tex.: $2 street tacos in Barton’s Lounge.

The Taco Truck, Hoboken, Princeton & Morristown NJ; High Line, NY: Buy one Taco Tradicional and get another on the house; take a picture of your tacos and tag @thetacotruck on Instagram for the chance to win a custom taco party.

Chipotle: Considering how much food they’ve been giving away lately, they’ll probably just start throwing tacos at you the second you step inside.
