Is This Instagram Photo Proof Eleven Is Coming Back For ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2?

We’ve been in a Stranger Things news drought for a while (and by a while I mean a week) but don’t worry, if there’s one thing the internet loves more than Donald Trump memes it’s obsessing over which characters might return for season two of Netflix’s breakout hit.

It’s been hard to turn on the TV these past few months without seeing the adorable bunch of stars from the 80’s sci-fi series gracing late night talk shows or hamming it up at the Emmys and lately, they’ve been busy making rounds at fan fests like NY Comic Con to tease as much as they can about the show’s next installment. For Millie Bobby Brown, the bada** 12 year-old that plays Eggo-obsessed, supernaturally gifted Eleven, the struggle to keep her possible story line secret has been all too real.

Quick recap: at the end of season one, Eleven saved her trio of friends, and Will, and basically the whole damn town, by sacrificing herself in order to take down the demogorgon – that weird monster who got off feasting on victims like poor Barb in the Upside Down. Fans were left in the dark over whether Eleven actually survived the ordeal when a final scene showed Chief Hopper (David Harbour) leaving a box of Eggos in the woods. Unless he’s got a wild animal as a pet who likes the taste of frozen waffles, it’s pretty clear who he’s leaving them for.

The Duffer Brothers have kept much of the series’ second season under wraps, though we do know Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Joyce (Winona Ryder), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) will be returning. What we’re still not sure of is whether Brown will be making an appearance in season two – or rather, we weren’t sure of that until this well-timed Instagram photo appeared to soothe our fears.

Brown and Harbour attended a panel for fans of the show (possibly at the Phoenix Fan Fest) and while Brown knows how to keep mum on her own character’s fate, it seems Harbour is all too happy to spill the beans. The pair have attended other fests where Harbour has had the same problem keeping his lips sealed on his co-star’s fate – at NY Comic Con he talked about the “rich emotional arc” the two characters might have.

By now it’d be crazy to assume Brown wouldn’t be in season two. Her character was one of the most interesting on the show and she quickly became a fan favorite — you probably have at least one friend planning to dress up as Eleven for Halloween this year. It’s also interesting that Harbour and Brown keep doing these panels together. Obviously other cast members were probably also in attendance for this one, but it kind of feels like the show is setting the foundation for Brown and Harbour’s character’s to interact even more in season two. Here’s hoping.
