Last year we posted the supercut above which aims to show every single person Keanu Reeves (world’s greatest hitman) takes down as revenge for killing his dog in the 2014 film John Wick. Well, the supercut missed a few dead baddies, says John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2 director David Leitch. He clarified the real, higher number of bodies hitting the floor in an interview with Empire as transcribed by Cinema Blend:
“That number’s a little light. I saw that video, but they forgot to count the guys in the various SUVs he crashed and blew up. If you include them then it’s actually 84.”
That’s an extra eight people who died to avenge a dog (justifiable). We just have to wonder how bloody and awesome John Wick: Chapter 2 is going to get, something which was hinted at by the first trailer and our obsessive breakdown thereof. Clearly, the director is paying attention to the details and squeezing great action sequences from a reasonable budget, which may be why he’s rumored to be directing Deadpool 2 when he isn’t busy making that third John Wick movie.
We’ll see if Leitch can top himself (in both raw numbers and raw action) when John Wick: Chapter 2 opens February 10th, 2017. They had better not mess with his dog this time.
