The Best Of Tony Hale’s UPROXX Live Discussion

It’s official: Tony Hale is a goddamn DELIGHT. The Veep/Arrested Development star dropped by yesterday for an UPROXX chat, and, well, he melted the ice around our cynical hearts, answering questions about Buster Bluth, Gary Walsh, Volkswagen commercials, Muppets, and Game of Thrones in the most charming way possible.

Grab some juice, y’all, because we’re about to get this Best of Tony Hale’s UPROXX Live Discussion started.

In your personal life have you ever greeted a crowded room with, “Hello my precious blueberries?” Please say that you have.

Let’s just say it doesn’t stop at blueberries.

@Tony – Are you more sympathetic towards Jaime Lannister since he got his hand cut off on Game of Thrones?

Poor guy.

Comedy has been your niche that has led you into some amazing roles. If you could choose any role or opportunity next, what would it be?

I always wanted to do Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors.

@Tony: Do you get free Volkswagens for life?

Wouldn’t that be nice.

(Via)

@Tony: Is there a particular type of role, or genre, you would want to explore next?

A sci-fi mystery set in Little Rock Arkansas but filmed like Dumb and Dumber.

@Tony: You make us laugh. Who makes you laugh?

My wife and 7-year old daughter.

@Tony With the exception of your Arrested Development cuss-word explosion about Lucille and Buster’s short run of providing the voice of Franklin the puppet (your delivery of “Y’freak bitch!” was a shared ringtone among my pals for a while) we never really get to see you lose it on anyone or deliver those awesomely written insults in Veep. If you could verbally dunk on any castmate, who’d you pick?

Great question…Gary WILL go off on Dan one day. It’s going to happen!

@Tony: A lot of actors who have played culturally iconic characters begin to despise that character for various reasons. What do you think your relationship with the character of Buster will be like down the line?

Buster is a nurturer. I’m going to hire him at my nursing home.

@Tony – If you could do a duet with a muppet, who would you choose and what song would you sing?

Amazing question Kevin the Robot. I would say Beaker because He’s definitely an under appreciated harmonizer.

(Via)

@Tony — Is Jessica Walters really as wonderful as everyone says she is?

She’s fantastic. And her coming timing is impeccable.

Wow, that typo gave the answer a real Motherboy XXX feel.

(Via)

@Tony: What shows do you want to see return?

If I could miraculously bring any show back…Carol Burnett Show.

(Via)

@Tony Does Jessica St Clair’s role get expanded this season? She’s one of my favorites on Comedy Bang Bang. Womp it up.

She is the absolute best and yes, she comes back.

@Tony was it as fun as it seems to be a guest on an episode of Justified?

It was. But all I typically remember is whether the food was good or not.

(Via)

@Tony What’s your favorite long-running gag in the Arrested Development universe? Going back and revisiting the Buster/seal foreshadowing is always fun.

I LOVED Tobias’ Blue Man story.

(Via)

@Tony What was the scripting of the Chicken Dances? Was it kind of a ‘look like ANYTHING except a chicken’?

That makes sense doesn’t it? Buster respected chickens too much to insult them. He wanted no part of it.

(Via)

@Tony – If you were running for President, who would you pick as your VEEP running mate?

This will NEVER happen but if I ever did run, my Veep would be a very qualified therapist.

(Via)

@Tony, in your opinion, what do Buster and Gary have in common?

clearly brothers…https://heeeybrothers.tumblr.com

(Via)

@Tony: As somebody with experience of government, who do you think should sit on the Iron Throne? Other than Selina Meyer, I guess.

My only loyalty is to Selina.

(Via)

@Tony What’s your favorite scene to shoot in Arrested Development and Veep respectively?
P.S. I’m so happy I can see you weekly on TV again!

thanks! I’d say my favorite scene in Arrested was Buster cussing out his mother and in Veep…there’s an uncomfortable tumble coming up for Gary.

@Tony. Hey, actor.

Heeeey internet brother.
