Overly emotional turtle Drake released a new album today, and hey, it’s excellent! But that’s not really a surprise: unlike in film and TV, where too often the most successful movies and shows are the least critically adored, the popular/rave reviews axises cross paths in the music industry all the time. Drake takes home a Teen Choice Award, and then sees Nothing Was the Same was given Best New Music from the likes of Pitchfork. (Y so sad, Drake?)
Today, let’s meld those two worlds, teen girls and cranky middle-aged critics, further by picking lyrics from Nothing that should’ve been Jimmy Brooks, from Aubrey “Drake” Graham’s time on Degrassi: The Next Generation.
To me, Drake will always be Wheelchair Jimmy.
