The first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok dropped Monday morning, already showing the humor of director Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows) and hinting at the plot, which reportedly involves Hulk and Thor cancelling the apocalypse, possibly with help from Doctor Strange. (Chris Hemsworth has called it a “buddy movie” and Mark Ruffalo described it as “an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor.”)
We’ve already made jokes about Loki’s face, and we’ve dug deeper into Tessa Thompson’s role as Valkyrie. But there are still plenty of Easter eggs to notice and jokes to be had, starting right from the opening scene:
I can't believe the Thor trailer actually starts with

Then Mjolnir gets rent asunder by Cate Blanchett’s Hela (aka The Death Queen), when she repeats the Marvel trope — as pointed out by Dorkly — of characters catching a thing the hero throws their way:
Which Twitter likened to Cate Blanchett straight up juggling chainsaws:

But, without Mjolnir, Thor will have to figure out other ways to battle. Now how will he drive our ships to new lands and fight the hordes? Speaking of which, plenty of jokes were made about Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” finally being used in a Thor trailer:

The use of the song has been a long time coming:
The only thing that makes me sad in the Ragnarok trailer is the reminder of how we fought & lost getting "Immigrant Song" into the 1st film.

In other behind the scenes news, the film seems to be filled with imagery pulled directly from Marvel comics, like the Sakaar Arena from Planet Hulk, the costume design of Karl Urban’s Skurge the Executioner, and Jack Kirby designs from Fantastic Four.

Which veers into jokes about other aspects of the production design:

And someone noticed this “Skux Life” reference to director Taika Waititi‘s previous film, Hunt For The Wilderpeople.

And, of course, plenty of jokes were had about Thor and his “friend from work”.

SPOILER: Thor and Hulk will beat the crap out of each other, until Thor mumbles, "Martha," which makes everything cool between with Hulk.
