People Are Not Happy About This Barack Obama Comment Katy Perry Made

In case you haven’t noticed, Katy Perry is back with a brand new single and a new haircut. While the single has mostly been appreciated, the haircut has been meme’d and oddly become the object of much dismay online. Sure, it’s probably not Katy’s best look, but it can be changed literally at a moment’s notice so it’s a wonder folks have worked themselves up so much about her new do. Either way, Katy has clearly heard the chatter and decided to respond during an Instagram live session.

“Aww, someone says, ‘I miss your old, black hair’,” she said, a tad annoyed with the comment. That was innocent enough, but then she added the quip “Oh, do you miss Barack Obama as well? Okay, times change. Bye.” It’s likely she meant no harm — Katy was a noted supporter of both Hillary Clinton and Barack — and certainly wasn’t endorsing Donald Trump, but Twitter is not the forum for nuance or reasoning so naturally people were enraged.

So, yeah, people have taken that comment and ran with it, calling Katy all sorts of names and admonishing her for maybe, kind of, sort of if you squint I guess making light of people missing Obama. At some point she’ll surely clarify her comment and try to calm everything down but again, social media and nuance don’t mix so the damage is probably done.
