The coolest part of the NFL Draft every year is watching the reactions as dudes get drafted. As the draft has gotten more and more commercialized each year, there’s something so wonderful about watching raw, genuine emotions from guys who have achieved their lifelong dream of making it to the NFL.
That’s what made Takkarist McKinley’s reaction to getting selected by the Atlanta Falcons so cool. McKinley, a defensive lineman from UCLA, brought a picture of his deceased grandmother on stage with him and gave an impassioned interview to Deion Sanders of NFL Network about how he promised her he would get to this point. As McKinley said in the interview, thirty seconds after he made that promise to his grandmother, she passed away.
To Clay Travis of Fox Sports 1 and Outkick the Coverage, the interview was an opportunity to make jokes about the picture McKinley carried on stage. McKinley got word of this and decided to fire back at Travis, saying that this shows “the devil is alive and well.”

As is usually the case when someone is critical of him on the internet, Travis found out and felt the need to respond.
I love grandmas more than you. Sincerely, the devil. https://t.co/PK9iNrJdS0

This isn’t the first time that Travis and an athlete have bumped heads on Twitter. Back in 2015, New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins went at Travis over an old tweet that predicted the then-Kings center would get arrested within five years of the start of his NBA career.
