Following a tragic suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, Grande’s significant other and The Divine Feminine rapper Mac Miller has pulled out of two upcoming festival performances. Miller announced on Twitter that he will not be performing scheduled sets at the Soundset or Sasquatch! festivals.

While Miller didn’t give a reason for backing out, the announcement coming so soon after his girlfriend Grande was at the center of an incredibly traumatic attack could point toward Mac taking time to be with the recovering pop star. Grande recently sent out a resilient and powerful letter refusing to let the specter of terror keep her from performing in the future.

“I am sorry for the pain and fear that you must be feeling and for the trauma that you, too, must be experiencing,” she wrote to her fans. “We will never be able to understand why events like this take place because it is not in our nature, which is why we shouldn’t recoil. We will not quit or operate in fear. We won’t let this divide us. We won’t let hate win.”

It may also be time to admit that Sasquatch is cursed. The festival already lost a headliner when Frank Ocean pulled out citing production delays and Miller’s backing out is yet another big hit to the annual event.
