The BIG3 has produced some memorable moments in its early days but very few of them have actually been spectacular on the floor. We’ve experienced Gary Payton skipping a prominent BIG3 event because he “had to stuff to do,” Charles Oakley cussing people out for bad possessions and much more. But this week, Ricky Davis provided a legitimate on-floor highlight with an explosive dunk.
Yes, that Ricky Davis. Oh, and the recipient of his wrath was the always entertaining Stephen Jackson.

It always helps to hear Gus Johnson’s call of the festivities but this was an explosion of sorts from Davis. The former high-flying NBA swingman is now 37 years old after last appearing in the NBA in 2009-2010 but, as evidenced here, there is some giddy-up in his legs even in this kind of setting.
Undoubtedly, this play is helped from a visibility standpoint by the presence of Jackson, who recently opined that he should take Andre Roberson’s spot on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Obviously, that is a pretty off-the-wall statement from a player that last appeared in an NBA game more than three years ago but this kind of on-court interaction between Davis and Jackson is what the BIG3 was created for.
In the absence of real, live NBA basketball for a while, this might be the best dunk you see in a competitive environment and the splendor that is Ricky Davis throwing it down will never get old.
