Steven Adams Isn't Worried About Kevin Durant, He's Hugging A Sea Lion

Don’t talk to Steven Adams about Kevin Durant and his alt accounts. He’s out here snuggin’ on sea lions and loving life.

The Oklahoma City Thunder forward got some intimate time with a sea creature this week, and Norman Transcript scribe (and former DIME alum) Fred Katz was there to document the occasion on Twitter. Katz posted a picture of Adams and a sea lion hugging on Wednesday, and it included a great line about a very handsy, or perhaps finsy, aquatic creature.

“Steven Adams got groped by the sea lion,” the tweet read. “Went in for the hug and says, “Look at where its hand is!””

Some of the comments on the tweet debated whether the animal in question was a seal or a sea lion. But unlike many of the debates in sports that will never have answers, this one is easy. While both seals and sea lions are pinnipeds, the animal getting a bit too close to Adams’ junk has difficult to see but nevertheless present external ear flaps, a clear difference between sea lions and seals. Another big hunt, according to the NOAA, seal front flippers are stubbier and have distinct toes.

They also slide around more on their bellies and are not as easily able to pose like the sea lion is doing with Adams. Trust me, I wrote the book on this.

This is only more proof that there’s always fun to be had in the NBA world somewhere. Most of the Thunder are occupied with Kevin Durant, improbably, trashing his former teammates on Twitter with his main account instead of his burners, Adams is getting in touch with nature and finding a greater connection to the world at large.

The NBA really does have something for everyone. Even budding zoologists.
