The Infamous Warriors Halloween Tombstone Cookies Apparently Weren’t LeBron’s Idea

After the Cleveland Cavaliers miraculously overcame a 3-1 deficit in the 2016 NBA Finals to beat the Warriors, the entire world spent the next calendar year trolling Golden State for their historic meltdown. Chief among those trolls were the Cleveland Cavaliers.

You might recall that on the following Halloween, as he always does, LeBron James threw a costume party for his team, but the main attractions were all the party decorations that took not-so-subtle jabs at the Warriors. Needless to say, the Warriors didn’t appreciate that very much (and, of course, they’d eventually get their revenge last spring).

Apparently, we’re still talking about that party, for some reason. Long-time LeBron compadre Dahntay Jones made an appearance on “The Russillo Show” last Friday, and he claimed that The King had little or nothing to do with the decorations.

Via ESPN:

“I was at the Halloween party. Usually, his [LeBron’s] trolls are funny, but that was not from him. That was from the catering company,” Jones said. “That’s why he really doesn’t speak of it because the catering company put that together. If you think that LeBron James throws a party and does everything from the cookies to the decorations, then you’re kind of insane … He has a season to prepare for, and he’s party planning as well … But that was the company that they hired. It just happened to be funny at that point in time.”

You remember Dahntay Jones, right? The ex-Cav who most famously lost nearly his entire salary last spring defending LeBron from the sidelines during the playoffs and who some internet hero started a GoFundMe page for to help pay him back?

In any case, it stretches belief to its outer limits that LeBron wouldn’t at least have the final okay over his own Halloween decorations, but I suppose we’ll just have to take Jones’ word for it.
