Russell Westbrook signed two major contracts this offseason, a 10-year extension with Jordan Brand and a long-term extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Both of those deals give him some stability, but the massive Nike deal meant Westbrook was going to get the chance to come up with some new shoes and potentially clothing.
The first real fruits of that deal appear to have surfaced by way of a new Jordan Brand shoe using some of Westbrook’s signature style. Sole Collector noted that Japanese shoe site US11 had an early look at the newest Jordan Fly Next model.
It’s a direct callback to his signature “Why Not?” saying. The first colorway appears to be monochromatic, but it does have plenty of style and a unique look.
We’re not sure if this is simply a new model of shoe or a new on-court Jordan, but it certainly has some unique lines to it. The site also had a red and white version of the shoe, a classic Jordan Brand color combination.
There’s no release information or cost on these Jordans just yet, but I’m sure we’ll see a lot more from Russ and Jordan Brand in 2018. Looks like they’re off to a good start on the new deal here.
