Conor McGregor Is Teasing ‘Big News’ That Hopefully Isn’t Burger King Related

For all of Conor McGregor’s ability to stay in the headlines after months of doing nothing, we still have no idea what’s next for him in terms of his actual fighting career. With every week that we don’t see a concrete answer, more and more fans are turning against him on social media. His messages to other fighters during the recent UFC 222 card resulted in a mob of people questioning whether he’d ever return to MMA and defend his belt. A new series of tweets advertising his partnership with Burger King is likewise full of burns spicier than the chicken sandwich he’s now hawking.

Fortunately, we may not have to wait much longer before we know what’s next for McGregor in combat sports.

“Big news on the way,” McGregor wrote, and we can only hope it’s fight related and not just another advertising partnership. Good for Conor, making all that money. But at a certain point people expect a fighter to fight, especially one who talks as much trash as McGregor does. The Irish superstar recently claimed he tried to step up and fight at UFC 222 but a deal never came together. We’re hoping the next announcement doesn’t involve an ‘almost’ as well.

The timing makes sense for something to be revealed. The clock is ticking on the UFC’s plans to strip McGregor of his lightweight title, with April 7th being the date they hand a new undisputed 155 pound belt to the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson at UFC 223. McGregor is rumored to be eyeing a September return against the winner, and it just so happens that the UFC has reserved a stadium in Moscow that month just in case Nurmagomedov wins.

We’ll probably have to wait until after UFC 223 for that announcement, but the sooner McGregor is selling another championship fight rather than a chicken burger, the better. Conor’s antics start to wear thin when he refuses to get in the cage and back them up with his phenomenal fighting skills.
