C.J. McCollum is on the list of NBA players who have zero issue speaking out when they see something happening around the league that they don’t like. Take, for instance, his back-and-forth with Kevin Durant earlier this summer, which included McCollum’s thoughts on Durant joining the Golden State Warriors in free agency.
McCollum isn’t relenting in his criticism of the Warriors, especially when players decide they want to go there to get a ring. He didn’t call out Durant or someone like DeMarcus Cousins specifically, but during an appearance on Central China Television, McCollum made it clear he hates it when players head to the Bay Area.
“I would never do anything of that nature,” McCollum said. “I think that’s disgusting.
McCollum continued this line of thinking by saying “I’m not built like those guys, I was raised differently.”
It’s not hard to put the dots together and see that McCollum isn’t a fan of decisions made by guys in recent years in free agency, but again, he didn’t specifically point anyone out. His brother, Errick, shares this sentiment.

The Blazers’ guard was also asked about whether he thinks the future of the NBA involves players joining the Warriors in free agency to get a ring, which he shot down for the most part.
“I think some players will take that route, but most guys have too much pride, want to really win on their own or in their certain organizations and aren’t gonna just jump the bandwagon,” McCollum said.
McCollum is an incredibly proud basketball player, a sentiment which he thinks is shared by a number of players around the league. Perhaps this will lead to more players speaking out with similar vitriol towards those who ring chase in Golden State, but if not, at least it’ll make next season’s Blazers-Warriors games a little more fun.
