Dwyane Wade’s farewell tour has been delightful and the Miami Heat guard continues to play at a high level, even in his final NBA season. On Monday evening, the Heat took on the Atlanta Hawks in an otherwise anonymous battle of Southeast Division “rivals” but, along the way, Wade made history in becoming the most prolific shot-blocking guard in the history of the NBA.

Oh, and he passed a professional basketball player named Michael Jordan to do it.

It is important to note that Wade’s record encompasses both regular season and playoff blocked shots and, as a result, he is still technially chasing Jordan (who has 893 regular season swats to less than 880 for Wade) for regular season honors in the category. Still, the future Hall of Fame guard has been known for his incredible combination of timing and leaping ability throughout his lengthy career and the clincher for this particular record came against Hawks 10-day wing B.J. Johnson, who is the 449th (!) different victim for Wade.

This wasn’t quite as memorable as Wade’s recent game-winner to down the Golden State Warriors but, even at the age of 37, the legendary guard continues to cement his legacy in a number of different ways.
