CM Punk’s Agent Reportedly Tried To Get Him A Job On FS1’s WWE Show

CM Punk is pretty insistent that he doesn’t want to return to wrestling, and he has been for quite a while now. Brief unpublicized “you can’t prove it was me” appearances aside, he really seems to have moved on to acting and less-than-impressive MMA fighting. Of course, most of this conversation has been in the context of whether or not he might show up in AEW. Considering WWE unsuccessfully sued him and Colt Cabana for defamation, it’s hard to imagine he’d ever work with them again. However, this news item just emerged that inserts an interesting wrinkle into that possibility.

According to Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an agent from the Creative Artists Agency, which represents CM Punk, reached out to Fox Sports about the idea of Punk becoming a co-host on the WWE in-studio talk show that’s being planned to launch on FS1 this fall when Smackdown moves to Fox TV. If this were to happen, Punk would reportedly be working for Fox, rather than WWE, although it’s hard to imagine that Fox would hire someone for that show that WWE specifically didn’t want. But this is a new era, and maybe all the talk of Punk going to AEW is enough to make WWE want to work with him despite their previous troubles.

In any case, this is currently little more than a rumor, and even if it happened it probably won’t lead anywhere. Previous discussions have named Renee Young as the likely host of the FS1 show, although it’s unclear if that’s something that’s been decided or just an acknowledgment that she’s clearly the best choice.
