Hip-hop is moving as fast as ever. Luckily, we’re doing the work to have the best music in one place for you. This week, there was a trio of videos from Doja Cat, Sleepy Rose and 2 Chainz, and the Dreamville triumvirate of J. Cole, JID and Earthgang. Here’s the best of the rest:
Dave East — “Godfather IV” Feat. Nas
Dave East is pulling out the big guns on the road to his Survival album. He gave a taste of what to expect on November 8th on “Godfather IV,” a collaboration with Nas. The two take turns, with Naslocked in candid bars like, “my dead granddad came to my cousin through a psychic.”
Logic — “OCD” Feat. Dwn2Earth
“OCD” is the first offering from Logic’s upcoming No Pressure album. The Maryland rapper is typically reflective on the soft single, rhyming about the ills of social media and an attention-crazed society.
G Perico — “Billie Jean” Feat. Wiz Khalifa
It looks like Wiz’ spree of SoundCloud singles is over, but he’s still working. Earlier this week he released “911 ” with 24hrs. He also got with G Perico for “Billie Jean,” where the two turned the famous Michael Jackson loop into a funky, bouncy banger with the same focus as the original “Billie Jean,” but slightly gruffer lyrics such as, “I’m your daddy, b*tch I ain’t your crush.”
Bankroll Freddie — “Drip Like Dis” Feat. Lil Baby & Young Dolph
Bankroll Freddie is the newest member of the ever-growing Quality Control behemoth. It’s only right Lil Baby have him a look on the remix to his “Drip Like Dis” single. Young Dolph also tags along for the minimalist bragfest.
Chief Keef — “Floor Seats” Feat. Riff Raff
A pair of cult favorites connect on “Floor Seats,” the second collaboration between Keef and Riff Raff. While it isn’t as strong as their “Cuz My Gear” collaboration, the two sound solid over the thumping DJ Paul production.
Blac Youngsta — “24 Hours”
Earlier this week, Blac Youngsta offered “24 Hours,” the latest single from his upcoming, yet-to-be-named album. The piano-driven track is a creative sonic descendant of Mase’s “24 Hours To Live” classic, where Youngsta counts down how he’d spend his last day on earth.
Sada Baby — “Lame”
Detroit’s Sada Baby is fired up on “Lame,” where he raps energetically over the track’s sinister production about his love for lean and having a “chopper and the Glock the size of Andy Milonakis.”
Hoodrich Pablo Juan — “Minute Maid”
“Minute Maid” is a single from his upcoming DMV project. The track is dominated by a methodical, horn-driven beat ripe for him to unleash a triplet flow and hilariously lets us know that he’ll “sh*t on n****** like e.coli.”
Stalley — “A Main”
Ohio’s Stalley offered up a nostalgic lyrical exercise this week with “A Main.” The song seems like a strong thematic match for his upcoming Reflection Of Self: The Head Trip album, which will be released on November 1.
Wiki — “Fee Fi Fo Fum b/w Smarty Jones”
New York underground stalwart Wiki offered up a two-pack of songs this week. “Fee Fi Fo Fum” and “Smarty Jones” are both freewheeling tracks where Wiki commandeers producer Tony Seltzer’s electro-hop soundscapes to showcase his lyrical superiority.
