Jay Leno gets a lot of crap from everyone for the way that he and/or NBC has handled The Tonight Show’s hosting duties in the past, and it definitely overshadows his good qualities. But after today, it’s going to be really hard to make jokes about how he’ll eventually try to steal Jimmy Fallon’s job because of how awesomely generous he was in delivering a hell of a surprise to Cpl. Ethan Laberge. Leno was the subject of the TODAY Show’s latest “Shine a Light” series installment, as he met Laberge and helped tell the story about how he suffered horrific injuries while serving in Afghanistan and is recovering with the help of family and friends.
Like Leno, Laberge is a fan of muscle cars and high speeds, so the comedian took him for a ride in a 2015 Dodge SRT Hellcat to show him a good time and take him to lunch. And then, as the kids like to say, Leno won the Internet with a very special gift for the soldier.
