Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney were engaged on Valentine’s Day! The singer announced the news this afternoon on Instagram and Twitter and showed off the heart-shaped rock:
He didn’t eat her heart, which is a relief! In case we were worried that Gaga was in love with a monster and not a sexy TV fireman.
Earlier in the day, executive editor at the Times Herald-Record Barry Lewis shared his story about spotting Gaga and Kinney when they visited her father’s restaurant in Manhattan. While he and his wife were having dinner on Saturday night, the singer and her boyfriend from Chicago Fire came into the restaurant like regular, normal folks (save for the two bodyguards) and hung out by the bar with her father. Lewis recounts what he witnessed and it sounds super sweet:
I was finishing off my plate of spaghetti and meatballs, when my wife Bonnie, enjoying a seafood special, noticed a pretty woman sporting platinum blond hair and a strapless dress – despite bone-chilling temperatures – walk into the restaurant at about 6:45 Saturday night, taking a seat at the small bar, located at the front of the restaurant, just a few short feet away from our table.
I heard the singer say “it was time” as she flashed the ring around. Family members said the pair had been going out for about four years. …
Her father, Joe Germanotta, who owns the restaurant with chef and author Art Smith, popped open a bottle of champagne to toast the couple and welcome Kinney into the family. …
Kinney, standing, seemed a bit embarrassed as they talked about trying to find the right ring and time to give it to her. …
Bonnie and I both said congratulations to Gaga as she passed. She said “Thank you.” We offered the same wishes to Kinney, who rubbed Bonnie’s back and shook my hand as he exited.
The restaurant returned to normal. I ordered coffee.
She didn’t come in in an egg or wear meat or anything like that. Just normal, boring Stefani Germanotta stopping by dad’s restaurant to show off her new engagement ring. Her gigantic, sparkly, perfectly Gaga engagement ring.
Congratulations, and I can’t wait to see how insane and spike-filled her wedding is going to be!
