The leading team brashly running up the score when a game is out of reach – even in professional sports – is never a good look. But if the losing squad continues to compete at something resembling peak levels, what are the eventual winners to do? Lay down? Allow their opponents to narrow the gap? Give up, basically?
Jeremy Lin thinks so.
But we’ve no problem with the Brooklyn Nets’ Bojan Bogdanovic taking the easy two points despite his team leading the Los Angeles Lakers by nine as the fourth quarter clock ticked to zeros. As YES Network’s Ryan Ruocoo and Mike Fratello pointed out, Ronnie Price ran at Alan Anderson in efforts to double-team the ball with Lin.
Los Angeles, clearly, was still playing, and Brooklyn simply reacted by doing the same. While sports prudes might take umbrage with the Nets’ approach, it hardly seems a faux pas to us. Lin’s response, on the other hand, is exactly that.
