There aren’t many filmmakers left in modern Hollywood making the testosterone-filled thrill rides of the ’70s and ’80s, and that’s why a guy like Joe Carnahan is so admired. Most recently, the man spent some time with Liam Neeson on The Grey, Patrick Wilson on Stretch, James Spader on The Blacklist and Katherine Heigl on State of Affairs. Now, with Affairs still in limbo for a new season, Carnahan has signed on to direct a new movie for DreamWorks.
Joe Carnahan has closed a deal to direct the action pic “Motorcade” for DreamWorks.
Carnahan will write and direct the movie, with Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald executive producing. Billy Ray wrote the most recent draft.
The story revolves around terrorists attacking the President’s motorcade as it navigates through Los Angeles.
The project has been in the works for years with Tom Cruise once attached to star. Most recently, the last update was that Ryan Reynolds was going to take the leading role with Billy Ray writing the script. At the moment, it remains unknown if Reynolds is still attached, but if he is, filming probably won’t start until the actor finishes his work for the upcoming Deadpool movie.
