Hardly a day goes by when I don’t think about the best worst TV scene of all-time, the moment when Harrison Morgan from Dexter fell from a treadmill and busted his chin and yelled Owww. Owww. Owww. for two minutes straight. It was gold.
The best part, of course, is that the stunt double is a 45-year-old man.
However, the kid who played Harrison Morgan, Jadon Wells, was 6 at the time. Now he’s 8, and while most 8 year olds are learning piano, playing soccer, and graduating from T-ball, Jadon Wells is deeply into CrossFit, which — as Wikipedia notes — combines high-intensity interval training, Olympic weightlifting, plyometrics, powerlifting, gymnastics, girevoy sport, calisthenics, strongman and other exercises.
So, you know, normal 8-year-old stuff.
Here he is on squat day.
What does Jadon do on his day off from school? Play Minecraft on the iPad and watch Good Luck Charlie? HELL NO. He does pull ups. Minecraft is for pansies.
But it’s not just Jadon. His little brother is into CrossFit, too.
On this day, Jadon did 100 SQUATS. He was 7. That’s more squats than most of us do in ALL OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
A lot of fathers and sons bond over baseball games or ’80s movies. Not these two. They bond over high-intensity interval training.
Honestly, I don’t know if I’m more impressed or confused. I’m just glad to see that Harrison Morgan wasn’t traumatized by the treadmill incident.
That kid is going to be huge someday, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled off a Jonathan Lipnicki, the little kid from Jerry Maguire who is now super jacked.
