Fox News Was Banned From This Michigan Recreation Center For Being ‘Too Offensive’

One small recreation center has banned FOX News from their television lineup, proving that even when you’re running on a treadmill to raise your heart rate, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity are bad for your health. MLive reports that members of the Meri Lou Murray recreation center in Ann Arbor have voted to remove the network from their TV lineup, because even the closed-captioning was bothering people:

Ypsilanti Township residents Dave and Sue Weber, who joined the gym last fall, have argued that a county-run facility is no place to be showing Fox News, which they consider offensive, right-wing political propaganda.

Though there’s no volume on the TVs, unless using headphones, they said they were tired of offensive closed-caption blocks with remarks such as “Young women aren’t capable of voting” and “We have enough illegals here, we don’t need more.”

Members have voted to replace Fox with National Geographic, Travel and The Discovery Channel, which sounds like a much more relaxing way to get your workout in. For those less interested in natural wonders, there are five other channels, including the park and rec’s own in-house network which will likely be quite popular with members still not over the loss of Leslie Knope from their TV screens.
