Would you ever like to run for vice president? C’mon, it could be fun. Veep taught us that you get to enjoy all kinds of exciting swear words, not to mention you can probably get a good table at Olive Garden most of the time. While some political figures are angling to be Donald Trump’s running mate, there’s one Republican notable that will be noticeably absent on Trump’s VP list.
CNN’s Dana Bash reports that Trump’s camp attempted to get former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice onboard as a potential VP. It’s a job opportunity that Rice has “no interest” in.
Scoop: Sources tell me & @eliselabottcnn team Trump reached out again to Condi Rice in last few days re running mate. She had no interest

Rice’s lack of interest in being Trump’s running mate shouldn’t come as too much of a shock. She’s previously expressed that she plans to stay at Stanford University and had no intentions to attend this month’s Republican National Convention.
This confirmation that no VP plans are in Rice’s future will come as disappointing news for a certain segment of Republican (or Republican-adjacent) voters, although Donald Rumsfeld devotees will likely be thrilled. At the moment, Indiana Governor Mike Pence appears to be the most likely running mate to join Trump in his campaign, although Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie and a few other candidates can’t be ruled out just yet.
By the way, Condoleezza Rice isn’t the only potential VP to turn down The Donald. Oprah Winfrey has rejected a running mate offer too.
