A Kansas Militia Wanted To Bomb A Mosque And Kill Nearly 120 Somali Refugees To ‘Wake People Up’

While Republican nominee Donald Trump continues to bring up ISIS and international terrorism whenever he can, federal authorities in Kansas shut down a planned attack against a local mosque and an apartment complex used by nearly 120 Somali refugees.

According to Wichita CBS affiliate KWCH, acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall identified three members of the so-called Kansas Security Force and the Crusaders, a militia group “whose members support and espouse sovereign citizen, anti-government, anti-Muslim, and anti-immigrant extremist beliefs.” Per additional reporting from CNN, the three individuals — “Curtis Allen and Gavin Wright, both 49, of Liberal, Kansas, and Patrick Eugene Stein, 47, of Wright, Kansas” — were charged with domestic terrorism. That, and “conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction,” as their alleged plans involved “[parking] vehicles full of explosives at all four corners of the Garden City apartment complex” in order to “wake people up.”

According to the Department of Justice, Allen, Wright and Stein were intending to carry out the attack the day after the general election on Wednesday, November 9. During his press conference, Beall added the three men had written a manifesto with the expressed purpose of having it published after the bombing. If convicted, all three could face life in prison.
