Stephen Curry has been a in a bit of a funk the past two games. Usually, when players are going through a slump, they try to score easy buckets (i.e., those close to the rim) just so they can see the ball go through the hoop.
Curry, however, is not most players. He needs to see the ball go through the hoop from the vantage point he’s used to, which is about thirty feet from the basket. He knocks this one down – at the sound of the first-quarter buzzer, no less – in typical Steph Curry fashion: improbably, yet easily. And, just for good measure, not to mention a fitting exclamation point on his explosion, Curry decided to add a dunk just a few minutes later after sneaking up from behind Marc Gasol to intercept the pass.
The Grizzlies trail at halftime, 61-44, and after Curry started the first eight minutes of Game 4 without a single field goal attempt, he’s got 21 points (8-of-14 from the field, 2-of-5 from beyond the arc), four assists and four rebounds. Curry’s high for the series was 23 points.
The Grizz better watch out this game doesn’t get totally away from them in the second half, but the 2015 MVP is locked in, and that’s a very good sign for the Dubs.
