ICYMI: In the 2016 NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors blew a 3-1 series lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers despite having the first-ever unanimous MVP and the best regular-season record in league history.
That happened in June, but the internet won’t let it go. The meme has persisted and perhaps reached a crescendo when one man began a quest to get personalized license plates to commemorate the occasion.
It started when one Twitter user realized it was a possibility.
The fact that this is available makes me want to move to Oakland pic.twitter.com/5OmDkuMSYG

A dream was born.
I don't live in Oakland but i could still do it… https://t.co/iHuftKzVkG

Then the dream became a reality (as you already knew from the headline and top photo) and was topped off with a license plate that will clear up any confusion about which 3-1 lead is being referenced.
it's gonna be really great because it'll say 3 1 LEAD and be surrounded by this pic.twitter.com/iLwQxpk1YT

I enjoy a meme as much as the next person, but spending $48 to get HARAMBE on a license plate seems a little over the top. Teams have blown 3-1 leads in the past and will do so in the future. This feels like a purchase by a basketball fan that is so bored during the offseason that this seemed reasonable.
Although, now that I think about it, this is the type of thing Harambe can’t do anymore because he was murdered in the Cincinnati Zoo. So, in a way, this license plate honors two memes. It’s beautiful.
