That Time Michael Jordan Asked Common To Forge His Signature To Sell To A Fan

Common visited Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night, and we learned that the rapper/actor/writer was a Chicago Bulls ball boy in the ’80s, a time that just so happened to coincide with a young Michael Jordan entering the league.

As a ball boy during that era, you’d figure that Common got plenty of autograph requests from fans. In one such instance, someone asked him for MJ’s, but when he approached Jordan with the request, Jordan had other ideas.

“You sign it,” Jordan said.

And so, Common did. The only problem was that when he went back to the fan with the forged autograph, the fan knew it wasn’t real because Michael’s name was spelled wrong. Hopefully, a valuable life lesson was learned that day; Successful forgery takes lots and lots of practice.
