No, Derrick Williams, You’re Supposed To Dunk The Ball Through The Rim, Not At It

Derrick Williams has had his fair share of awesome dunks, both in the NBA and at the University of Arizona. This was not one of them.

The sequence starts out well enough. Williams, freed up by a screen, has a wide open path to a rim. This gives the opportunity to wind up for a dunk that has a little more “oomph” behind it. And wind up he does, arm cocked and ready to unload. Then misfortune (or hilarity, if you’re anyone except Williams himself) strikes and Williams is left dumbfounded by this self-imposed rejection.

The Kings lost to the Grizzlies, 97-83.
