On Tuesday evening, Dirk Nowitzki exploded in the first half against the Los Angeles Lakers and reached the 30,000-point milestone. Given the love affair between Nowitzki and the only fan base he has ever known as an NBA player, it does not come as a surprise that he would be greeted with a great deal of affection. Still, his teammates (and even his owner) did not disappoint with their celebration.
It isn’t every day that a non-game winning shot receives anything approaching that level of intensity with regard to the celebration and it was clear that the crowd was quite invested as well. Just watch this view of Nowitzki’s shot. Pay close attention to the wall of noise generated by the crowd in Dallas as the ball went through the net.
