While the Clippers handled the Jazz in Salt Lake last night, following a dreadful first quarter that gave Utah an 11-point head start, Blake Griffin and Derrick Favors did their own version of the dunk contest. Griffin started things off with a putback jam where he swooped right over a guy that had a pretty nice chase-down block. Then Favors tried to one-up him with a finish off the pick-and-roll that DeAndre Jordan would just assume forget. So which one was better?
First, here’s Blake following up the Matt Barnes miss with poor Hayward totally bamboozled by Blake’s sudden appearance (that’s why you block out).
Then there’s this emphatic flush by Favors after the pretty bounce pass as he’s rolling to the rim. DJ has thrown down his fair share of poster dunks, but now he knows a little how it feels after Favors unloads on him from up high.
We give the edge to Favors if only for the difficulty of the finish with DJ rotating over, but Blake got the win, and that’s all we’re likely to remember later on down the line.
Who dunked it better?
