Dwight Howard Helped Atlanta Foster Kids Attempt Their Own Mannequin Challenge

Senior Writer

Whether you’re buying his latest Mr. Nice Guy routine or not, Dwight Howard is back on top of the world. Returning home to Atlanta is the best thing that could have happened to his career, because the Hawks are 9-2 and have won six games in a row. Even the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers are praising the new-look Hawks, who handed LeBron James and co. their first loss of the season. Simply put: the Hawks are really good right now and it’s mostly because of Howard’s resurgence in the wake of his contentious, if not ugly, breakup with the Houston Rockets.

One thing that Howard has always been great at, though, is giving back to the community. He doesn’t get a lot of credit for his huge heart, because he usually makes headlines for drama-related nonsense or his legendary flatulence. This week, like many NBA stars and pro athletes, Howard took time to entertain children in need of some happiness by hosting a Thanksgiving meal for 50 foster kids. Of course, it’s not a Dwight Howard affair if Superman doesn’t get to act like a kid, too, so the one-time planking enthusiast helped the kids record their own Mannequin Challenge.

Now, if silly “challenges” aren’t your thing — even when they’re done with and for adorable kids – you still have to appreciate this one for the guy shouting, “Stop moving, Jillian!” Some people simply take their viral video trends more seriously than others.
