ESPN Has Given Adrian Wojnarowski His Own Trade Deadline Highlight Video

ESPN

The NBA trade deadline is here, and ESPN is hyping up its coverage with its biggest asset: Adrian Wojnarowski.

This is Woj’s first trade deadline day with ESPN, as he came over from Yahoo and his Vertical basketball site in July. Wojnarowski’s deadline work at Yahoo was complete with a popular live video broadcast that often saw him working the phones in real time, something you’ll likely see as he appears on ESPN networks on Thursday.

And to get you ready for that brilliant reporting on live television, ESPN dropped a tongue-in-cheek hype video for Woj’s deadline reporting early Thursday.

Shot with a perfect vintage filter and using retro graphics, the video shows Woj doing what he does best: “working the phones” and “checking in with sources.” There’s even a “double phone alert,” which is a real thing that important people really do.

That’s the line of video if you ask me, but overall the concept is pretty great.

The fact of the matter is that what Woj does better than most in sports doesn’t often look like real work to the untrained eye. To most, that’s just a guy on the phone. Sometimes multiple phones. But we all know Woj is much more than that, especially on days like this.
