Hassan Whiteside is probably the best shot blocker in basketball. There just aren’t many players the league has seen who combine his length and athleticism with such a natural sense of timing. This block from the opening moments of Game 6 between the Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets, for instance, is insane.
But Whiteside isn’t quite the defender his shot-blocking exploits suggest. Why? As Al Jefferson has made clear throughout this series, the Heat’s big man is a fool for ball fakes and can be easily bodied out of position. Needless to say, we bet Big Al tries a different approach the next time Whiteside is between he and the basket.
