To say that Kevin Love was unhappy with Kelly Olynyk after the Celtics forward yanked down on Love’s arm and separated his shoulder would be an understatement. Love was furious in the immediate aftermath, calling Olynyk’s foul “bush league” and saying it was Olynyk’s intention to injure him.
Now, though? Now everything’s peachy between the two players, and it was Love who extended the olive branch, according to ESPN.
“I initially was very emotional about the play,” Love said. “I think everybody thinks, ‘Oh, he’s going to be able to come back, pop it right in,’ but at the time when it happened, I kind of knew. And about a week went by, reached out to Kelly, sent him a text and said, ‘Hey, it’s all good. It was a tough play.’ And we just move on from there.”
Love’s anger was totally understandable at the time. He’d finally found his groove on offense and had made the playoffs for the first time in his career. Then, in a flash, his season was over with his team moving on without him. It appears as if time – ever the ultimate healer – gave Love some perspective and the ability to reflect on the moment with a reasonable perspective.
