According to Sports Logos, the new Sacramento Kings Logo has been leaked. This happened because the NBA filed a European trademark.
The new logo is black and white for now; the color scheme if this goes through will likely be rolled out later this spring. It is inspired by the old Kansas City logo back in 1985. Sacramento used the old logo until 1993 when they switched for the one we know today. Well that was over 20 years ago, so it’s not surprising that we are getting an early ’90s throwback “retro look” for the team.
It’s similar to the older versions of this logo but with a modern flair, overall keeping the integrity of its tradition.
Maybe the NBA thought the simplicity of this logo wouldn’t detract from the new advertising space they are allowing on jerseys.
Also revealed in the trademark info is a new royal lion theme, which is another classic and iconic symbol.
This is a trademark owned by the NBA. However, no one in the organization has said this is official. Aside from a new look the organization has a lot of issues to deal with this offseason as they try to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
