Upon his return to Cleveland, LeBron James has a decision to make: should he wear the No. 23 he wore during his first seven seasons in Cleveland, or the No. 6 he wore when he won two championships and appeared in four NBA Finals during his run in Miami? It’s a conundrum James is asking fans to help answer.
James took to Instagram to ask: “6 or 23?……”

It’s not entirely clear why James chose No. 6 when he joined the Heat, but 2 x 3 = 6, and Dr. J wore No. 6 for the Sixers (after rocking No. 32 for the Virginia Squires and New York Nets of the ABA). So it could be an homage to Julius Erving, a player James has mentioned as one of the best ever — plus someone whose style James appreciates.
‘Bron did say he wanted to retire the Michael Jordan comparisons that are common for any player donning No. 23, but he seems to have gotten over the lofty — borderline unattainable — parallel with the GOAT.
Based off the reactions on IG, it’s not really clear what his fans would prefer.
Should he wear No. 6, No. 23 or another number?
