Watch LeBron James Join Drake Onstage At His Columbus Concert

Look, we’ve all gotten to know Drake, right? He’s like our not terribly self-aware cousin from Canada who we see at family gatherings and the occasional summer beach trip. And because we know him, we also know that he’s always, always here for his NBA idols.

Bearing this in mind, it’s not remotely surprising that when he played Columbus, Ohio on Saturday night, he brought none other than LeBron James, the NBA’s newly-minted highest-paid player, out on stage with him.

“Ohio, if you don’t make some noise for ‘the King’ right now you’re out of your mind,” said Drake, and with that, the three-time NBA champion appeared on stage and sang and danced to the tune “Pop Style,” to which Drake altered the chorus somewhat to say, “Bronny, Bronny had to handle that one his way,” per Rolling Stone.

LeBron got a little NSFW when he implored the crowd to give it up for Drizzy and his co-headliner on the current tour, Future. And Drake returned the favor right before LeBron exited stage right, saying, “Make some noise for the King, LeBron James is here tonight. It’s love, man. That’s a hometown hero right there.”

The crowd chanted “M-V-P, M-V-P” as LeBron made a quick pass through on his way out. If there was any doubt that bringing the first pro sports championship to Cleveland since the ’60s made him the ultimate hometown hero, it was dashed on Saturday night at Nationwide Arena in Columbus.
