At this point, rapper Lil B, also known as The BASED God, is connected with the NBA nearly as much as he is with hip hop and Twitter. The more superstitious among us believe that Kevin Durant’s injury-plagued 2014-15 season was due to the BASED God Curse, which also (if you believe in these things) touched James Harden during his Western Conference Finals series against Lil B’s beloved Golden State Warriors.
But Lil B also has hoop dreams of his own. He tried out for the Warriors’ D-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, back in 2012. He may or may not be able to really ball, but he didn’t make the cut. He’s 5-foot-6, so that makes it an uphill struggle to compete with the talls of pro basketball. Still, that didn’t stop the 76ers’ D-League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, from giving him another shot:

And what do you do if you think you can ball and a pro team invites you to show it? You say yes:
@Sevens @Sixers tryout invite accepted see you there!! Philly here I come thanks to your front office for keeping your word – Lil B

This is all, of course, a little silly, being that Lil B’s a silly guy, but we’re not going to be the ones to crap on his dreams. Go ball out, Based God, and if you have what it takes, the 87ers are going to get a lot of Twitter followers.
